Free MLB Baseball Prediction From Doc's Sports : Take OVER 7.0 Pittsburgh at Los Angeles Dodgers (10 p.m., Friday, May 30) Josh Beckett is fresh off the first no-hitter of his career, and we’re going to take advantage of a market overreaction on him in this game. The total on this game is low, but I don’t expect either pitcher to have a ton of success. Starting pitchers generally struggle in the start following a no-hitter in a natural let down spot for them. Whether it’s the high pitch count or all of the attention garnered, the results historically haven’t been good. Francisco Liriano gets the ball for the Pirates and he’s had an off year thus far. Liriano is 0-5 with 5.06 ERA and 1.50 WHIP in 11 starts, just one year removed from an exceptional 2013 campaign. Liriano has always been an off and on kind of pitcher, so it’s relatively easy to determine when to be on him or against. The Dodgers offense hasn’t put up the kind of numbers that they are capable of, but this is still a dynamic lineup that poses a huge threat. I’d be surprised if either starter makes it past the sixth inning, so we should be in good shape with the total in the late innings. The Dodgers have had huge problems in their bullpen, namely at the backend. The Pirates have taken their lumps as well, so I like this one to go over the total.
Free MLB Baseball Prediction From Jason Sharpe: Take #903 Atlanta (-120) over Miami (7 p.m., Friday, May 30) Atlanta Braves starter Julio Teheran is just 23 years old and flies way under the radar when it comes to superstar young pitchers in MLB. In just 45 career starts he has turned into one of the elite pitchers in the game. Teheran has pitched back-to-back games without allowing a run in 15 innings of work overall. He carries a very solid 1.77 ERA on the season and a WHIP that sits below a 1.00. He has faced the potent Miami offense once this season and was dominant in the win, allowing just one earned run in seven innings of work while striking out seven.
Not a real big fan of Marlins starter Tom Koehler in this one. Not sure what to make of the 27-year-old right-hander who seems to have overachieved for the most part this season. Koehler hasn’t looked like the same pitcher in two of his last three starts as he has a 6.35 ERA in those three combined outings, and I think the rest of the league is starting to catch up to him.
Free Boxing Prediction From Raphael Esparza : Take Carl Froch (-160) over George Groves (9 p.m., Saturday, June 1) This boxing match will be on HBO on Saturday. It is a rematch from an outstanding fight in November of last year, which Froch won by TKO in the 9th round. George Groves had a great fight plan in their last fight, and I see Groves giving Froch everything he has. It is too bad Froch will be too tough, and I see Froch winning this fight by going to the body and breaking down Groves round by round. It should start off as a great fight, but Carl Froch will control this fight after rounds 4-5 and bring this to another fight Bonus Play winner. I am going for three straight boxing/UFC Bonus Play winners in this space, and I think this one is another winner.
Free MLB Baseball Prediction From Allen Eastman : Take Toronto over Kansas City (1 p.m., Sunday, June 2) The Blue Jays are on fire. They are the hottest team in baseball right now, and they are going to win another series this weekend against Kansas City. The Royals are below .500 and they have been a huge disappointment. But the Jays have been one of the biggest surprises in the game and one of the best bets on the diamond. And they will have their ace on the mound in this one Mark Buehrle expected to make the start. The lefty had been awesome this year. He has just a 2.16 ERA in his last 10 starts and the Royals have really struggled against left-handed pitching. Buehrle dominated the Royals in his time with the White Sox, and I think that it is going to continue here against an offense that is only averaging 3.5 runs per game against southpaws. The Jays have won nine of their last 10 games, and right now they are on a serious run. I think that they will be around a -145 favorite in this game, but I think that the price is more than worth it. Take the Jays here.
